Since May 1998 the BMW AG is using the Virtual Reality software Boule for the evaluation and quality assurance of virtual prototypes. 3 rooms are equipped with suitable stereo projection walls, tracking systems and SGI Onyx2 graphic workstations. Other car manufacturers and manufacturers of forming tools are in an evaluation phase and build appropriate installations. The development of Boule has focused on the elaboration of a suitable interface for immersive Virtual Environments from a series of standardized components.
